Ever since NetherRealm Studios' soft reboot of Mortal Kombat in 2011, the studio has supported its games long after launch through downloadable content. While that has often consisted of new characters and skins, the Ed Boon-helmed studio has even bigger plans for Mortal Kombat 11, which it has been supporting since its April 2019 launch. Star Wars Day always brings several surprises. I suspected we'd get a tease for The Mandalorian 's second season today, but instead got something even better: news that Taika Waititi is directing a new Star Wars film! We also learned a new Disney+ Star Wars series is on the way from Leslye Headland. The organizers behind the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) have announced that its 2020 event is canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Evo 2020 was originally scheduled to take place July 31 to August 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Citing the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason, Valve has delayed this years International global tournament event, likely until sometime next year. The event was slated to take place in Stockholm, Sweden. Enplex Games' Population Zero heads to Steam Early Access on May 5. Part MMO, part survival, you have the option of how to play on a harsh planet each week, with the game sessions divided into 7 day cycle. PVE encounters against the harsh planet and its denizens are challenging enough, but if you opt into a PVP cycle you are going to up against the most dangerous game as well - other players. While survival-style games are quite commonplace these days, quirks like the game length cycle and meta account progression may be enough for Population Zero to stand out. Click to watch embedded media Players will be able to suit up as FBI agent Francis York Morgan again on July 10, when Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise launches exclusively on Switch. This sequel once again investigates a string of murders that occurred years ago in Le Carré, but the new story is set in modern-day Boston. The game is developed by Toybox and Rising Star Games and is helmed by director Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro. The original Deadly Premonition is one of video games' most talked about cult classics. I urge all Switch players interested in this sequel to check out the first game, which was released last year for Nintendo's hybrid system under the name Deadly Premonition Origins. It's a wild ride that you'll laugh at for all of the wrong reasons, but will likely adore for its story and characters.
